Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State who gave details said the meeting started at about 9:10 p.m. lasted for about one hour and half, and “to review issues as it affects our party”, adding that, ‘We also looked at the way forward because we are coming to the heat of politics , so we just must be prepared for any political issues coming up,”
Okorocha, who is the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, (PGF), said the Chairman of APC’s forthcoming National Convention, Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State, briefed Buhari on the arrangements so far regarding the convention.
The Imo State Governor also said all the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors are now “more united than ever” and are ready for the 2019 elections. We are sure people will be proud of APC’s outcome,”
He also said they commended Buhari on his recent outing on the issue of June 12 as Democracy Day and the honour done to late Moshood Abiola, stating that, “We saw this as opening new page on relationships,” .
Okorocha while speaking on the apparent crisis within the party, said the APC is not in crisis, stating that there are only minor disagreements which are normal in any political party, stressing further, “even in a family there are disagreements. A party without disagreements is not a party,” he said.
In another development, the Governor was silent on the APC crisis in his home State where other leaders have virtually edged him out and dared him to leave the party.
Penpushing reports that, Governor’s opponents within the Imo APC elected their preferred candidates as party executives, who have now been recognised by the outgoing national leadership of the party, but Okorocha insists no APC congresses were held in his State.
